Product FAQ:

Q. Are the items you are selling brand new?
A. We only sell brand new items. We do not sell used jewelry.

Q. I am confused what type of diamond to buy; can you explain to me the various diamond grades?
A. Diamond grading is an in depth field and it is not possible for us to explain in detail. Your best source for detail information is www.EGLUSA.com or
www.GIA.edu. In brief, a diamond price will depend on the 4C’s.

Carat: This refers to the size of the diamond. The bigger the diamond, the more expensive it is.

Color: This refer to the color of the diamond and it is graded from letters D through Z. D is Colorless and as you move down the scale yellow or brown color hues become prominent.

Clarity: This refers to the inclusions inside a diamond. Inclusions can be white feathers, white crystals, carbon pinpoints as well as large carbon deposits. Clarity is graded as follows: Internally Flawless, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, SI3 (GIA does not recognize SI3 grade but it is widely used in the trade), I1, I2 and I3. Generally speaking SI2 and higher grades are considered eye clean, which means an average person cannot see any inclusions with a naked eye. In SI3 and lower grades you can see the inclusions with your naked eye. I3 is the lowest possible grade given to a diamond, so technically speaking any diamond will qualify for I3 grade.

Cut: This refers to the proportion of a diamond. Cut proportions are important when buying expensive diamonds and less important when considering lower grade diamonds.

In short, what type of diamond to buy will largely depend on your budget. Some people want to buy a large diamond and do not care about color or clarity, while some prefer a smaller diamond but with better color and clarity, while some others prefer color over clarity.

Q. How are the diamonds or jewelry you selling differ in quality and price from a local jewelry store?
A. On an average you can be assured that the jewelry we are selling is priced at least 50-70% less then what you will pay at a jewelry store. Jewelry stores have high overheads and hence high markups. Pieces that typically sell for $1000 at a jewelry store can be purchased from us for $250 to $500. On no reserve auctions many times you can get a piece of jewelry below our manufacturing cost. Being a manufacturer does not mean that we do not have any product cost. DeBeers holds the monopoly over diamonds and 60-70% of diamonds in the market are sold through DeBeers subsidiary Diamond Trading Corporation. The advantage we have is that we are selling directly to you and we do not have high overheads.

In summary you can get deals from us, but your expectations have to be reasonable. Some customers want to spend $500 for a 1.00 carat diamond and expect it to be eye clean and clear. This is simply not possible, we cannot give you a $5000 diamond for $500. Our advice to you before buying any item from us is to do some homework by visiting your local jewelry stores, and this way you know what to expect and will not be disappointed.

Q. How do you grade your diamonds and will my local jeweler give the same grades?
A. Our diamonds are graded by a GIA graduate gemologist using standard tools such as master color stones and high power microscope. Diamond grading is not an exact science. Human judgment plays an important role in grading a diamond. To complicate matters further, no two diamonds are alike. They may have the same type of flaws but differ widely in how they appear to a naked eye. Hence, diamond grading is an opinion. Even the two most recognized gemological laboratory in the world GIA and EGL have a difference of opinion. Considering these factors there will always be a 1-2 grade opinion difference. The most important factor to consider is the honesty of a jewelry store. If you take a piece of jewelry from us and show it to a jewelry store, there is always a chance that the jeweler will be bias because they are interested in selling their own jewelry. 90% of jewelry stores have salespeople selling jewelry who do not know anything about diamonds and their sole interest is to sell you their piece and will say anything to downgrade a piece bought from someone else.

Q. I have no idea about diamond quality. Can you help me?
A. Our advice is to first do as much research as possible before you buy or place your bid. Your local jewelry stores, and websites such as www.EGLUSA.com are good places to study and get familiar with various diamond grades as well as pricing. Please note that diamonds come in various grades and even if two diamonds have the same grade they will appear different to a naked eye. It is always prudent to do your home work, so you will know what to expect.

Q. Do all diamonds have flaws?
A. All real diamonds will have flaws. Diamonds are natural and the flaws they contain are also natural. Based on the number and type of inclusions diamond are graded. Generally speaking any diamond that is graded SI3 clarity and lower will have eye visible flaws. Flaws can be white crystals as well as black carbon inclusions. If you are looking for a diamond where you cannot see any eye visible flaws then you should consider getting a diamond that is at least SI2 clarity. The same holds true with the color of the diamond. Color grades D through H are generally considered colorless and as you go down the scale yellow or brown hues will become more prominent. Once again we advice you to get familiarize yourself with diamond grading so you know what to expect. For example if you are looking for an eye clean diamond and you get a I1 clarity diamond then for a sure such a diamond will not suit your need.

Q. What is the appraisal value and how do you determine that amount?
A. It is important to know the different values associated with a piece of jewelry.

Manufacturing Cost: This is our cost to make the item.
Wholesale Price: This is the price that we would sell to a jewelry store or a wholesaler (typically 5-30% over manufacturing cost)
Retail Price (retail replacement value): This is the price that a jewelry store will sell the item to you (typically 50-400% over wholesale price)
Appraised Value: This is done for insurance purposes and is usually 3 to 5 times the retail price. The logic is that in case you lose the piece then at least you can replace it within the appraised value. Also insurance companies do not give out full appraised values.

To determine the appraised value, we would determine the retail price and multiply it by 3 to 5.

Q. Do you offer ring sizing?
A. Sorry we do not offer ring sizing and we recommend ring sizing be done by a local jeweler. This way if any adjustments are needed they can do it right away without you having to ship the item back to us. Also if we were to size the ring and send it to you then the item becomes non-returnable because in order to take an item back the item has to be in its original condition. Generally speaking any ring can be safely sized up or down 2 sizes. However, many styles of ring (such as eternity bands) are not sizeable or difficult (invisible set) to size. Also sizing a silver ring may not be cost effective, so please consult your local jeweler about ring sizing.

Q. I am skeptical of buying jewelry online. What assurances you can give me?
A. We have been in the jewelry industry for more then 20 years, and besides our site we are the leading seller of jewelry on ebay, under the seller name of DiaGeminc, our feedback record speaks for itself about the quality and the service we provide to our customers.
We offer a full money back guarantee (see our return policy below for details) and we do not charge any type of restocking fee for returns. In fact, we do not even ask you as to why you are returning a product or make you fill out any type of forms or require you to get a "return authorization number" for returns.

Q. Are you selling real jewelry?
A. All our jewelry are real and genuine. We do not sell fake or lab created gemstones. Our diamonds are not treated or enhanced in any way.

Q. Why are your prices so low in comparison to retail stores?
A. We are a jewelry manufacturing company, and the prices we offer are the price that we would normally sell to other wholesalers or jewelry stores. A typical jewelry distribution channel involves 4 to 5 middlemen representing 300 to 400% in added cost. Putting our products on ebay allows us to interact directly with the consumer at tremendous savings.
